The Medical Association’s library is an institution of the General Medical Council Hamburg. Primarily it assists hamburg’s physicians in their literature search. Nevertheless other physicians, students, researchers, and anyone who needs medical literature is of course more than welcome.

In order to borrow a medium (book, CD-ROMS...) a valid passport/ID or a proof of residence is simply needed.
You ought to carry this with you by all means any time you pay us a visit. In addition to that, General Medical Council members ought to bring along their physicians ID. As a rule books might be borrowed four weeks. For further borrowing regulations please attend to our library regulations.

The library collection comprises roughly 120.000 media. The user has access to 190 constantly updated periodicals, more than 190 CD-ROMS, a small textbook collection, videos, an extensive reference work holding, and last but not least Internet and Medline access to do research on the spot.

The library covers the complete medical subject areas. One special feature is the vast historical collection. Some areas even date back to the 16th century. These “treasures“ can be studied on the spot – a researcher’s paradise.
